2019/20 East Coast Winter Retreat

Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019 through Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020
Copper Beech Institute, West Hartford, CT

Relax, reflect, and open 2020 with fresh insight for living mindfully no matter what life brings!

Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche explains, “Mahamudra is a contemplative Buddhist tradition known for its simplicity. The practice is to be genuine, relaxed, and aware in every situation in life, to accept and appreciate who we are . . .The practice of Mahamudra is an experience of our mind that’s completely free and joyful, no matter what our life brings us.”This year’s Winter Retreat is a unique opportunity to enter into the New Year with meditation, teachings, discussion, and song in a beautiful setting in Connecticut. The retreat will focus on integration of teachings and practice in simple yet profound ways that can be brought into our everyday lives.

All are Welcome!

This retreat is open to all and we encourage everyone who is interested in learning and practicing meditation to join us!  Participants will benefit from a supportive meditation environment and excellent teachers. There will be opportunities for Q & A after teachings and various other activities during the retreat. Since this retreat is available to the general public (some prior meditation experience is recommended but not required) it’s a great opportunity to invite friends or family!

Our Teachers for this retreat

We are very pleased to welcome back Nalandabodhi teacher Acharya Lhakpa Tshering to our 2019-20 Winter Retreat. Acharya Lhakpa will teach on the short text Instructions on the Four Letters of Mahamudra, which contains pith instructions for mahamudra meditation.

Nalandabodhi’s Acharya Tashi Wangchuk will teach on the Four Reminders, the basic foundation of the Buddhist journey.

We are especially delighted to announce that Nalandabodhi teacher and founder Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche will join us by live video link for a teaching session.

An Opportunity to Share the Experience of Winter Retreat
We look forward to another successful Winter Retreat. To benefit as many people as possible, we encourage you to invite friends and family who are interested in meditation. Please click on this link for information on the registration discounts for first-time attendees of the Winter Retreat and those who invite them. The attendance of nearly a third of retreat participants at last year’s retreat was made possible by scholarship funds, thanks to the generosity of Nalandabodhi individual members and sangha contributions. Contributions to the scholarship fund are very much appreciated and we will offer different options to make it easy to donate. Donations can be made here on the registration page (scroll down to Scholarship section).
