Fresh Heart: A Meditation Course for the Curious

This course provides instructions on a variety of tranquility or shamatha meditation practices. These instructions are accessible to individuals who have never engaged in meditation because students will be guided through the mind, body, and speech aspects of the foundation practice of meditation on the breath. At the same time, this course is helpful for individuals who have already been practicing meditation because a variety of shamatha techniques will be taught. Throughout the course, there will be opportunities to engage in the practices that have been taught. In addition, the instructions will include the benefits of the different techniques, and advice on developing a daily meditation practice and on bringing the results of meditation practice into everyday life. Finally, there will be many opportunities of students to ask questions.

Fresh Heart is being offered at the Nalandabodhi Connecticut shrine room (3 Barnard Lane, Bloomfield) on Sunday from 10:30 – 12:00. The first class meets on Sunday, June 17. The remaining classes will be offered on June 24th, July 1st, July 8th, and July 22nd. While there is no charge for this course, donations are cheerfully accepted (suggested: $10 per class or $40 per course).

Because this is summer and many of you have planned activities with family and friends, we understand that you may not be able to attend every class.  While you will likely find it helpful to attend the entire course, if you can only attend one class you are encouraged to join us. Class notes for all of the classes will be provided to everyone who attends any portion of the course.
