Please join us for our weekly Sunday morning meditation practice of Shamatha (mindfulness meditation). Our Sunday morning practice and discussion sessions are free. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, instead of physically meeting at our center in Bloomfield, we are meeting ONLINE ONLY. We welcome you to join us online. We will start meditation promptly at 9:00 a.m. The online Zoom meeting will start at least 5 minutes earlier.
Due to a Zoom-bombing event, we no longer make the meeting number and password available on this website. That information will be available in our weekly email newsletter. Please note that the password changes each week, so you must get the link and password from the most current newsletter as the information in earlier newsletters won’t work. If you are not on our email list and wish to join these sessions online, please send a message stating your interest to Pat Lee at pleedharma at gmail dot com. (You will need to write that address in the conventional way for Pat to receive your message. It is written in this somewhat cryptic way here to avoid it being scooped up by bots searching for live email addresses.) Also note that our Zoom meetings will now always use a “waiting room” as a further precaution against Zoom-bombing. You will have to wait for the meeting host to identify you and let you into the meeting.
If you would like some basic meditation instruction prior to sitting. Please e-mail Susan with questions. Meditation instruction is free.
We will sit from 9-9:50 am. This is a silent, sitting practice, either on the floor on a cushion or in a chair. Each meditation session begins with short chants relating to our aspirations for freedom from suffering for ourselves and all beings.
After the meditation ends at 9:50, the Umdze (practice leader) will read a Mind Training slogan and commentary on the slogan by Pema Chodron. There will be a short break while everyone contemplates the slogan. This is an opportunity to get something to drink and perhaps a snack. Then we share thoughts about slogan and commentary and our experiences on the path of mind training.
From 10:30-noon, there will often be introductory Buddhism and meditation practice courses offered. Please check the main Nalandabodhi Connecticut calendar for more information and to join.
We welcome you to join us for any part of the morning, and very much look forward to meeting you online!
