The Four Foundations of Mindfulness is our last class in the Introduction series.
What is the practice of mindfulness? Allowing our attention to rest closely with any given aspect of the experience, which puts us in touch with the nature of our body, feelings, mind, and all phenomena. This particular mindfulness practice is simply the wisdom of relating with these four in a direct manner, without any barrier between ourselves as the experiencer and the object experienced. Having developed the ability to be present through shamatha, the practices of the Four Foundations of Mindfulness mark the natural transition from a state of stable resting to actively and directly looking into reality by investigating the variety of our experience.
